Our IGCSE Chemistry course will help those who wish to learn more about this interesting topic, as well as those who want to gain further qualifications. The course covers the scientific methods involved in chemistry as well as hypotheses and experiments.

Distance Learning Support

All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course.

Home Study Entry Requirements

At Start Learning we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and study further, so we try to keep our entry requirements to a minimum.

Course Contents

The first thing we will deal with on this course is exactly what the examination board will require of you when you do your exams.

The course contains activities which are intended to help you through the course and keep track of everything you have learned.

In addition to this, there are a number of TMAs (tutor marked assignments), which require more lengthy answers. These must be submitted to your tutor so that feedback can be given to you. It is important to note that while these are extremely valuable in helping you learn, they do not count towards your final assessment in any way.

This is an exam-only syllabus and we will be preparing you for this as the principal aim of the course.

Qualification

Students are reminded that it is their responsibility to find and register with a centre to take the examinations. Start Learning cannot take any responsibility for this.

You should consult the Guidance for Private Candidate handbook on the Edexcel website.

Any registered Edexcel centre may enter private candidates for their chosen subject(s).

To request a list of Edexcel registered centres please send an email to the following address:private.candidate@edexcel.com .

You should approach local schools and colleges to see if they are willing to accept you as a Private Candidate. When consulting them, take with you details of the specification as they are far more willing to listen to your request if they can see immediately what will be involved on their part. Do stress that there is no coursework component involved, merely two exams of two and one hour respectively. Have the syllabus number to hand as well. Once you have found a centre they will complete your entries for you, issue all entry forms, and carry out general administration arrangements and correspondence to you.
